Since I washed my hair! My head feels like a dirty mess! Its been buns all week for me. Have no fear though, I am washing it today. Just have to take care of some business first. Today, I wanted to take my bun a step further so I changed it up a bit. I took a pack of kanekalon hair and twisted each half while still in its original rubber band. Then I my hair in a side ponytail and twisted it into a bun. I slid the rubber band over my hair, wrapped each half around and pinned it in place. It came out pretty good if you ask me :).
The only thing I noticed is that there’s some new growth peeking through in the back. I’m twelve weeks post so I made it to my original goal! Yay! I was planning to go a couple more weeks but I’m not so sure. I’m starting to have some breakage from me combing through the two textures. This is the exact reason I just did a big chop when I went natural. I don’t have the patience to deal with both. For me it has to be one or the other. Anyway, I have some big news to share… in the next post!
So we’re about a month into the challenge and i’d say its going pretty well. I was planning to do a different style every week but that was an epic fail lol. I had no issues finding styles, finding time to do them is the problem. So I have been doing buns almost every day, making sure to put it in a different spot each time. I’m ten weeks post now and I haven’t used any heat in about seven weeks or so. I also haven’t had my hair down at all during the challenge. This week, I took an old flexi rod set, combed it out and pinned it up. I love it! This set came out way better than my first one, but I fell asleep on it so it only lasted the day I did it lol. So this is what it originally looked like…
And this is what it looks like now…
One of my new favorite styles =)
I am SO excited!! The last time I was at this length was when I went to the salon in October and ruined my natural hair. And as we all know, I had to cut a couple of inches off. Welll they’re back!! I was moisturizing and sealing when I noticed it and I just had to take a picture. Anyway, all I did aftewards was put it in two braids and I’m off to sleep. Good night!
It took me almost five years but I finally went back to the eye doctor. There really isn’t much difference between the two pairs. The main thing is that the new ones are red. I figured I needed some color in my life! I still have my trusty black ones though, mainly because I don’t take my glasses off at night so I use those. Now I just have to make sure I don’t wait another four years to go back! Now, on to my hair. I’ve just been wearing it in a bun lately, making sure I put it in a different spot each time. That way there wont be too much tension on any particular place. Friday makes nine weeks since I got a relaxer. Lets just say my roots are getting a little thick! But its okay, I know I can make it to twelve weeks. Once I get there I might want to go a few more, you never know with me. Other than that everything is the same. I still haven’t used any heat and I’m planning to keep that up. I MAY start doing roller sets but definitely no direct heat until its time to do my length check in April. Until next time =)
SO I joined a gym!!! I am so excited and very proud that I’m finally doing something about it and not just talking the talk. Planet fitness is a short distance from my house, either a 30 minute walk or five stops on the train. I would like to go at least three times a week. That’s my starting goal because I know trying to jump into a 5 day routine is nuts, especially with two kids.
I’ve almost always been a little overweight. I was most comfortable with my size in high school, not too big and not too small.
After that I just seemed to keep gaining weight. I never really lost much after I had my son in 2008, and now my daughter is four months old. Its time to get back in shape! I don’t want to be skinny, never have. I just want to be fit.
One thing I KNOW I will have a problem with is changing my eating habits. I can’t diet right now because I’m breast feeding so that’s out. We very rarely eat fried foods so that’s a good thing. My main issue is snacking. I love snacks!! Lol. So I’ll definitely have to get that under control.
I went for the first time today and I must say I feel good! I’m not sure if I’ll feel the same way tomorrow though lol. But no matter how sore I’ll be, I’m proud of myself and I can’t wait to go back!
So here my first protective style of the challenge. The front was easy, but the back on the other hand… Let’s just say that I had some trouble braiding from bottom to top on my larger than average size head lol. Anyway, after I finally got over that hurdle, I put all of the braids in a ponytail and then a bun. Next week I’ll most likely have another bun, but at some point I’ll be doing box braids. At least that will last me at least four weeks. To get ready for this style, I did everything I usually do. I washed my hair with the Nutrine Garlic Shampoo and I conditioned it, except this time I used V05. I meant to grab Strawberries and Cream but I got Champagne kiss by accident. Lucky for me it smells good. Also, I love the way the conditioner made my hair feel. I always think that the more expensive something is, the better. WRONG! This conditioner cost me $1.29 and its great! I will be keeping some around from now on.
So…. I was doing my research about ways to stop and prevent shedding when I came across this article. It was a great read and very informative, but what stood out the most was the part that said rubbing your nails could reduce shedding and promote hair growth. So I clicked on a link for more info and that took me to this post. Me being me, I immediately began to rub my nails together. It could be wishful thinking but I definitely felt my scalp tingling. Im going to try doing it twice a day’ ten minutes each for a month and see if it works. And if not, I should at least have some decent looking nails!
